Another R.I.P. John Warren Geils Jr., founder of The J. Geils Band, was found dead in his home Tuesday in Massachusetts.

Police say the death is not suspicious.

They scored a number one with "Centerfold" in 1981.

Just to give you an idea how the big band was in the early '80s -- the Eagles, U2 and Billy Joel all opened for J. Geils on the road.

John Geils was 71 years old.

Dawe was a straight man. I wouldn't be surprised seeing him turn up as a newsreader or something. He could do the "interview voice" well. It was a little whimsical, but he could probably tone than down if required.

The big question is who will we turn to for the latest farnarkelling news?

Trump, maybe? All news seems to be farnarkelling these days.

Quite a few readers go into the voice book industry, recording books for the blind or narrating for the long haul drivers. Quite an industry surprisingly.

Dawe's also an actor, so he'll probably pop up in a drama or two as a lawyer or some-such or wind up treading the boards in theatre.

Last person born in the the 19th century died. Old duck lived through 90 Italian governments apparently.

I'm a little behind in catching up with freds :picard:

But I find this interesting in light of John Clarke's recent passing. I'm guessing that not many people would know that John Clarke (himself an Aotearoan by birth) did Wal Footrot's voice in the movie Footrot Flats: The Dog's Tale.

Also slightly coincidental, was Clarke's initial portrayal (back in INZID) of Fred Dagg, had more than a passing resemblance to Wal Footrot, right down to the wellies, hat & working singlet.

As a huge Footrot Flats fan, I was aware of this - I own the movie on DVD.

All I can say is that I hope that Dave Dobbyn is not shitting himself too much. :(

Sad news, I remember him in movie "By dawn's early light". Interesting fact - Powers Botthe once played one role in Soviet movie "Stalingrad" (as General Vasiliy Chuikov).
