Just out of curiosity; why are the former keepers of said dildo still calling themselves "3801 LTD"? I would have thought the name has out-lived it's purpose.

I would think that as a registered company name, there would be no need to change. Besides it would conveniently get some people's nose...............

True I guess, but it does seem a bit silly to keep calling it that just to get up a few peoples noses - in fact I can see that back-firing upon the group to a degree.

I don't think it is kept to get up anyone's nose.....that's a by-product of keeping their original registered company name. This name is associated with 20 years of good, professional service to the railfan community. No need to go to the trouble and cost of changing it, I suspect.

It's certainly interesting to note that the Newcastle trip planned in October has been cancelled. They don't seem to like running North...and personally the distance argument isn't as pertinent, as even when they run South or West, the train still has to go back to Sydney. Also seems very interesting that 3830 has only run once this year with the triple header to come (to my knowledge) out of it's regular 6 allowed runs. More and more I'm thinking I wouldn't be exceptionally surprised if she was retired next year.
Interesting to note that if 30 hadn't been passed out for Steamfest, it would have been the first year since 1985 that a 38 hadn't graced the mainline.
The silence in disappointment from the Vics is deafening...
So how about fucking off with the bullshit about which engine you like or dont like to its own thread instead of continuing crapping on in this thread.

Hmmm. Poor thing hasn't been out on the main since 1975, 40kph would explain the time - you'd be running reds following that! I'd imagine there'll be a few movements like this in the next month or two, if only due to much of the stuff that wasn't deemed surplus enough to be sold being moved to BMD. Just from seeing pics on FP and around the traps I'm thinking it's likely that at least a few kettles will be going there, maybe 5096, 1219 and one or both of the fat-squirting 59s.
Nathan mate check this out it was just posted on FP.
